For those of you who are in the dark as I was, a makjang drama is one where the twists and turns are so over the top, with the hero/ine having to face so much misfortunes and betrayal, the next step is either sanctification or Dante's Inferno. I dare give the word my very personal definition: a drama is makjang, when you read more wish you could enter the screen and murder half of the characters with your bare hands, then ease on your couch with a sigh of intense satisfaction (drink some soju and you'll have become a makjang character yourself).Shining Inheritance fits both definitions.

There's envy, greed, a dead man walking, 10 trillions lies, missed encounters by a microsecond, corporate plotting, memory loss, love polyhedrons and such a dose of odious behaviours your becoming a virtual assassin would be justified.But before you decide you hate the genre and turn the page, let me say this drama is strangely and acutely addictive.

It took me 4 weeks to pant through the first 7 episodes and less than 1 to watch the remaining 21 (granted, with a little fast forwarding here and there).The plot is very consistent. Every narrative line comes to a conclusion and justice triumphs.

Delicate subjects are touched here, and I appreciated this the most.I maintain the whole story could have been easily condensed in half the time and the dialogues thinned, if only the characters had stopped repeating the same sentences like an echo and the word money had been uttered one thousand times instead of one billion. There will be moments in which you'll question your choice of dramas, but at that point you'll be so implicated in the crime� ehm, plot, drop it will be harder than exit a gang.The acting mark is the result of an arithmetic mean.

The beginning is not encouraging at all, with exaggerations and wooden deliveries all over the place, but it improves a lot in going. It's as though the actors had been attending Theatre Class while filming. With a notable exception: Yun Joon Suk, who plays the autistic brother, is impressive all through, and makes the drama shine in depth and emotion every time he's on screen.I'm usually only mildly interested in the cast's attire, unless it's so distracting it prevents me from fully enjoying it or it is integral part of the narrative intent.

I liked the story and it was entertaining. Casting was superb, both Han Hyo-Joo and Lee Seung-Ki performed their best. But i feel as chemistry between two leads was somewhat weak, don't know if its only me who felt that way.

Although the story sequence was alright i felt as it was being dragged unnecessarily. Anyway in the end all worked out good.

Shining Inheritance is a drama I fell in love with and I really wanted to post my review about it here to share! (: There are no spoilers, so don�t worry about that!

The videos and pictures are teasers if anything (:I just finished watching this drama a couple hours ago and I have to say it was really really good (: I agree with the other reviews when they say this drama isn�t boring and has you on the edge of your seat. It�s a roller coaster ride of emotion throughout the whole show. I�ve never come across a show filled up with so much hate and betrayal. I don�t think I�ve hated a character as much as I did the step mother, who I felt myself not liking more and more as I watched each episode.

In the beginning you have Eun Sung who comes back from studying abroad in America and her bag winds up getting switched with Hwan. As the story takes off�from there you have these 2 characters continuously running into each other. She and her brother get kicked out by her stepmother, and not long after she loses her brother, Eun-Woo who is autistic. Majority of the show she�s looking for him. While trying to make money she finds and starts to take care of this grandmother who�s lost her memory.

I don�t want to say too much more, as I�d be giving away the story. Each episode had me guessing at what would happen next, and of course it leaves you hanging so you have to watch the next episode. This show made me cry, laugh, angry, but happy. Then you have the love triangles. It really is filled with a lot of drama and confliction, but that�s what made it so good.The acting in this show, well like the title it was Brilliant!

You can really feel for the characters while watching it. I dunno how to describe it, but the acting was realistic. This was the first show I watched with Lee Seung Ki and Han Hyo Joo, and I plan on watching more dramas with them. And whoever played the step mom should�ve got an award. I hated her character but her acting was really good. Seung Mi�s character� I liked her in the beginning but you feel her falling under pressure as the events continue. Her character was played really well, you could feel how hard she wanted to keep what was hers (or what she felt was hers).

Jun Sae�s character� I liked him. I felt bad for him later on in the story, he is a good guy. I�m glad at how the story ended, though.As for the music�I liked it. The music played it�s part and I liked a lot of the songs played throughout the show.Will I rewatch this drama? Probably not anytime soon (too many dramas I wanna watch).

The Grandmother, who has the inheritance, shakes up her sheltered spoiled family when she strips them of money to teach them about life.What I liked about the show a) writer So Hyun-kyung crafted 28 episodes of interwoven characters with surprises along the way.

His evil characters had nuances. He also wrote the top-notch intriguing 49 Days (2011 kdrama) that I rate as better than Shining Inheritance. b) male lead Lee Seung-gi as heir Hwan, in his first male lead role, whose evolution from spoiled heir to caring person was a joy to watch. I also loved him as the male lead in 2010's My Girlfriend is Gumiho.

c) Yeon Joon-seok as autistic brother Go Eun-woo was perfect and you rooted for him to be reunited with big sister. d) loved store Manager Lee who was terse but fair and put up with Hwan's initially hostile reluctance to do his job with patient dignity.What I did not like about the show a) this drama was extended by 4 episodes and you can feel the storyline stretch. I bet is difficult for a writer to revamp during production when a drama is extended because it is garnering great ratings.

b) the evil stepmother, while nuanced, grated on me and I tended to skip her scenes to alleviate the irritation. c) multiple hairstyle-challenged characters; female lead Go Eun-sung mushroom cap pageboy hair bugged me. She looked so much better with the bangs off the face. The Grandmother character had a terrible helmet-head gray wig and don't get me started on the factory worker with the gray pageboy wig.
